Home Energy Assessment Program
Instant In-Store Rebate Program
Through the Instant In-Store Rebate Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia partners with retailers to offer instant rebates of up to $400 on smart thermostats, lighting and controls, laundry and major appliances, and other energy-efficiency products and devices.
Free Energy Efficient Products Program
Through the Free Energy Efficient Products Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia also offers free energy-efficient products and installation, including LED lighting, faucet aerators, low-flow shower heads, smart thermostats, pipe wrap, and more.
Fridge and Freezer Recycling Program
Through the Fridge and Freezer Recycling Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia currently offers a free pick up and $50 for your old fridge or freezer, plus $10 for mini fridges and air conditioning units. Retiring these products for more energy efficient versions can save residents up to $180 a year.
Heating System Rebate Program
Through the Heating System Rebate Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia also offers rebates up to $2,000 on various home air and water heaters including heat pumps, solar thermal systems, and wood/pellet stoves.

SolarHomes Program
Effective Thursday, January 6, 2022, Efficiency Nova Scotia’s SolarHomes rebate was capped at $0.30/Watt (installed DC capacity) up to a maximum of $3,000.
Low-Income Incentive Programs
Multi-Unit Rental Property Upgrade Program
Through the Multi-Unit Rental Property Upgrade Program, Efficiency Nova Scotia offers energy efficiency rebates for low-income properties, including insulation, space and water heating, and more.
Eligible multi-unit residential units and cooperatives can receive up to 80% rebates.
In addition, not-for-profit properties that provide rent-free housing (such as shelters and transition homes) can apply for up to 100% rebates.
In contrast, other non-bed not-for-profit properties like food banks, community outreach and support centers, and employment and education centers can receive up to 80% in rebates.
