EfficiencyPEI offers rebates on home air and water heating equipment, including heat pumps, biomass heating systems, and other energy-saving products through the Energy Efficient Equipment Rebates. PEI residents can access the Government of Canada’s Greener Homes Grant and EfficiencyPEI rebates.
Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs
Energy Efficient Equipment Rebates
Home Insulation Rebates
Through the Home Insulation Rebates, upgrades to the shell of a house can yield big savings on heating costs while protecting your home from the elements. EfficiencyPEI offers rebates for insulation, air sealing, windows, doors, skylights and other environmentally friendly upgrades.
New Home Construction Incentives
You can get New Home Construction Incentives during the planning phase if you contact one of EfficiencyPEI’s energy partners to arrange for a certified energy advisor to evaluate your building plans before you build.
EfficiencyPEI automatically subsidizes more than 80% of the cost of this plan’s evaluation and follow-up assessment, so it only costs $99 + HST. They also offer a subsequent evaluation of the built home and can offer up to $5,000 in rebates depending on the efficiency level achieved.
Home Energy Assessments Program
With the Home Energy Assessments Program, EfficiencyPEI offers home energy audits at a subsidized rate of $99 plus HST.
Renewable Energy Incentive Programs
Solar Electric Rebate Program
Through the Solar Electric Rebate Program, EfficiencyPEI offers various rebates to make adopting solar more cost-effective.
For Homes: $1,000/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $10,000. For Businesses: $350/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $10,000. And for Farm buildings – $1250/kilowatt DC, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $35,000.
Low Income Incentive Programs
Two LIFT Programs
EfficiencyPEI and the City of Charlottetown offer free low-flow shower heads, bathroom aerators, and toilets to Charlottetown residents whose total annual household income equals $50,000 or less through the LIFT program.
The Winter Warming Program helps residents save money on heating costs, provides greater comfort with fewer cold spots and drafts, and improves air quality by reducing the amount of noise and dust entering the home. The program provides eligible households with comprehensive air-sealing along with the installation of a programmable thermostat, a low-flow showerhead and a voucher for a free furnace cleaning (up to $115 in value).
