Guide to rebates and incentives in the Northwest Territories
Four clean energy incentive programs are available in the Northwest Territories, offering dozens of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean transportation incentives and rebates.
The Arctic Energy Alliance offers all of these programs.
The Arctic Energy Alliance currently offers rebates to northerners who purchase new, more energy-efficient models of products they use daily through the Energy Efficiency Incentive Program. Buying energy-efficient products will help residents save energy costs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Eligible products include LED lighting, home appliances, heating and heat recovery equipment, insulation, and more. New homes that are designed to be energy-efficient can save residents money right from the start, with a $2500 rebate for eligible new builds under the Energy Efficiency Incentive Program.
The Arctic Energy Alliance offers rebates on home improvements that reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with heating homes, such as insulation, windows, and more.
The Home Improvements Incentive Program encourages individual homeowners, businesses, non-profit organizations, community governments and Indigenous governments to apply.
Through the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program, the Arctic Energy Alliance also offers a $5,000 rebate for new battery electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles and $500 for level 2 EV charging equipment.
