Through the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program Clean BC, BC Hydro, and FortisBC are currently offering energy efficiency rebates on a wide range of products and services such as insulation, heating & water equipment, appliances, heat pumps, and much more.

BC Energy Step Code Program

Through the Municipalities Rebate Top-Up Program, in addition, a growing number of municipalities are currently offering rebate top-ups that can combined with the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program.

RDN Graded Site-Cut Timber Program

Through the RDN Graded Site-Cut Timber Program, districts of Nanaimo and Lantzville is currently offering an incentive for the home construction or renovation projects that use graded timber located on-site for structural use. Please note the lumber needs to bear a stamp from an accredited grading agency. Eligible residents can receive up to a $250 rebate.

Vancouver Heritage Energy Retrofit Grant

The Vancouver Heritage Foundation offers evaluations and rebates up to $14,000 for energy efficiency upgrades through the Vancouver Heritage Energy Retrofit Grant on homes that were built before 1940 and or are recognized on the Vancouver Heritage Register.

Renewable Energy Incentive Program

PST Tax Exemption

Through PST Tax Exemption, purchasers may be eligible for a refund if they paid PST on a residential energy product used in a residential dwelling. The refund is calculated on the PST paid on the portion of the residential energy product used for energy generation and energy conservation equipment. This includes insulation, weather stripping, solar PV, micro-hydro, and more.

RDN Renewable Energy System Program

The RDN Renewable Energy System Program enables homeowners in RDN Electoral Areas to save money while upgrading to energy-efficient technology in their homes.

This rebate is available for Electoral Area residents that install electricity-generating systems that utilize renewable energy including solar hot water, solar PV, geoexchange, and micro (under 1 kW) and small wind systems (1 to 10 kW).

Clean Transportation Incentive Programs

Provincial Clean Energy Vehicle Program

Residents can use the search function on Go Electric BC to see which vehicle models are eligible and the rebates that apply for each through the Provincial Clean Energy Vehicle Program.

Specialty Use Vehicle Incentive Program

Various incentives are available through the Specialty Use Vehicle Incentive Program for special and low-speed equipment such as motorcycles, cargo e-bikes, trucks, forklifts, and shuttle buses.

BC Hydro EV Charger Programs

Single-family homes can receive a rebate of up to 50% of the purchase and installation costs of an eligible Level 2 EV charger to a maximum of $350 with the BC Hydro EV Charger Program.

For a limited time, BC Hydro is offering additional funding of up to $250 for single-family home customers who install an eligible JuiceBox smart EV charger. Greater incentives are available for apartments, condo buildings and workplaces.

Low-Income & Indigenous Incentive Programs

Free Energy Savings Kit Program

BC Hydro, FortisBC, Pacific Northern Gas (PNG) and local municipal utilities offer free energy-saving kits for qualified households through the Free Energy Savings Kit Program.

The kits include a water-efficient showerhead, kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators, weather-stripping, window film, outlet and switch plate sealers, a refrigerator/freezer thermometer, an LED night light and four LED light bulbs, a furnace filter coupon (for FortisBC gas customers), and an installation guide.

Energy Conservation Assistance Program

In addition to the free energy savings kit, FortisBC, BC Hydro, and municipal utilities also have the Energy Conservation Assistance Program that offers a complimentary installation of these products to qualifying residents, along with coaching on how households can save on energy costs.

FortisBC Income Qualified Program

The FortisBC Income Qualified Program offers up to $3000 rebates on natural gas furnaces & boilers and water heaters to customers whose annual household income is below a certain threshold.

Indigenous Community Heat Pump Incentive Program

Clean BC offers an 80% rebate for fuel-switching heat pumps in indigenous communities through the Indigenous Community Heat Pump Incentive Program. Eligible residents can receive up to $12,000 for eligible residential homes OR up to $200,000 for Indigenous community buildings interested in installing heat pumps.

Indigenous Communities Conservation Program

BC Hydro is currently offering free energy efficiency products such as LED light bulbs, showerheads, faucet aerators, weatherstripping, and special rebates for indigenous communities through its Indigenous Communities Conservation Program.
